Costa Rica to eliminate coronavirus test requirement for tourists.

Costa Rica to eliminate coronavirus test requirement for tourists.

Starting October 26th, Costa Rica’s minister Gustavo Segura announced that there will be no need for international visitors to show proof of a negative PCR test in order to enter the country.

This decision was subsequently followed by a statement from the Pan American Health Organization which stated that  conducting tests for incoming tourists is not recommended as a tool to mitigate the risk of international spread.

In addition to this news, another important modification to take into account is that the country will no longer send sanitary confinement orders for 14 days to national citizens arriving from other countries. Nevertheless, tourists arriving to Costa Rica still need to purchase a valid travel medical insurance and complete the Health Pass Epidemiological form.

The previous new measures according to Mr. Segura will be continued depending on the evolution of the pandemic, for he reiterated that it is essential to be self-aware of each individual’s situation and if anyone is feeling sick to reconsider flying to another country during this period.

Costa Rica’s economy is heavily influenced by the volume  of tourists arriving to the country, therefore the increasing new measures applied to facilitate traveling will help diminish the huge impact this pandemic has had in the lives of thousands of people that rely in  tourism. Stick around to know how these measures evolve and if there is any changes to Costa Rica’s travel policies in the future.

Your trip to Costa Rica is closer than you think!

There has been lots of uncertainty regarding Costa Rica’s border opening to the United States ever since the pandemic hit the world, nonetheless, Oscar Segura, Costa Rica’s national Chief of Tourism, has recently confirmed that all states are going to be able to travel in and out of Costa Rica starting November 1st. This means that every US citizen can now travel to Costa Rica regardless of their state of residence. Either way, to be able to travel to the country these are the requisites listed by the Costa Rican government:

  1. Complete digital epidemiological form called “Health Pass”.
  2. COVID-19 test along with negative result, maximum 48 hours previous to the flight.
  3. Travel insurance (preapproved Costa Rican or international policy) that covers eventual hospitalization and internment expenses of at least $50,000, as well as accommodation if the stay is extended starting at $2,000.

American Airlines, to help ease this process for its customers is facilitating coronavirus testing starting October 15th for those travelling to Costa Rica, and the passengers can choose one of the following three options to do so:

    1. Home sample during a virtual visit with medical professional.
    2. In-person PCR test at a CareNow urgent care location.
    3. On-site PCR test at airports.

Just as Segura stated, this change will have a great impact in Costas Rica’s tourism as in 2019 , of the 3 million international visitors to Costa Rica, more than half came from North America (1.3 from the United States). Either way, the entry of tourists will not be similar to that of last year; as a matter of fact, the entry requirements and pandemic’s impact more broadly has reduced this volume by about 40% compared to previous years.

A fundamental aspect to highlight is the fact that until this day, nobody who has entered the country has had the contagion of the virus and there have been no reports showing that individuals have been infected during their stay. Knowing this, it is safe to say that the international and national protocols of the airports and the touristic companies in Costa Rica have been adopted flawlessly, therefore enhancing your new traveling experience.

Be prepared because in a few weeks all states will be free to travel to Costa Rica once again, so sit tight for more news and start packing your bags! we’ll keep you updated.

Most Popular Dog Breeds in Costa Rica

Most Popular Dog Breeds in Costa Rica

August 22, 2020

Properties in Costa Rica

If you are a dog lover, you are probably wondering about popular dog breeds in every country you plan to visit or live in. When it comes to the most popular dog breeds in Costa Rica, the situation is a bit unique.

Costa Rica is a tropical country that is very pet-friendly. It has a lot of animal shelters, and most of its cafes and restaurants allow dogs. In fact, this country has one of the biggest dog shelters on the American continent, Territorio de Zaguates, which is a home of more than 1300 homeless dogs! After hearing this, you won’t be surprised to know that Costa Rica has many dog lovers. In fact, studies show that more than half of Costa Rican households own up to two dogs. This article will go over the most popular dog breeds in Costa Rica and explain what makes the dog situation in this country so special.

Most Popular Dog Breeds in Costa Rica

Poodles

Everyone loves poodles, and Costa Ricans aren’t an exception! Poodles are one of the most popular dog breeds in this Central American country. And why wouldn’t they be? Poodles are energetic, social, and, most importantly, the most intelligent dog breed out there. Even though they aren’t a territorial breed, it is still one of the most common dogs to have in the home. Not only that, but poodles are loved by people who want to style and groom their pets in a unique way. You can’t imagine a poodle without a specific coat shape owners groom its fur into!

Chihuahuas

Chihuahuas are temperamental dogs that can become relatively aggressive and borderline annoying – but they are small and cute, so they are forgiven. Despite their size, they have a big personality and can guard a house equally well as larger breeds. Sure, they don’t look scary, but they won’t hesitate to bark loudly, alerting everyone of the danger. Chihuahuas are excellent house dogs, which makes them one of the most popular dog breeds worldwide.

American Staffordshire Terriers

Despite being wrongly characterized as aggressive dogs, American Staffordshire terriers are still among the most popular dog breeds in Costa Rica. These canines are smart, reliable, and above all, good-natured. They are loveable dogs that are suitable even for families with little children. All of this makes them a broadly loved dog breed, no matter the reputation they didn’t deserve.

Miniature schnauzer

What’s cuter than a schnauzer? A miniature schnauzer! The bushy beard and eyebrows make this breed irresistible. Created as farm dogs, miniature schnauzers have quickly adapted to the comfort of a cozy home. They are small enough to be kept in an apartment but energetic enough to patrol a big yard. You can easily train them and teach them tricks, and they can even be – small but efficient – guard dogs. All of this made them extremely popular, even in Costa Rica.

Mixed breeds

Surprisingly, the most commonly owned dog in Costa Rica is a mixed breed dog. Most canines in this country are a mix of two or more dog breeds, making every dog one of a kind. In fact, mixed breeds are so popular that many dog shelters, starting with Territorio de Zaguates, have begun naming breeds according to a particular dog’s DNA. For example, there you may find a Long Legged Irish Shnaufox, a mix of an Irish fox terrier and a schnauzer. Other popular dog breeds are the Freckle Terrierhuahua, and the Chubby-Tailed German Dobernauzer. A truly unique practice!

Costa Rica’s Blue Zone

Costa Rica’s Blue Zone

August 18, 2020

Properties in Costa Rica

Blue Zones are regions around the world where according to explorer and author Dan Buettner, people live longer than average (over the age of 100!). This term first came about in the National Geographic magazine in November 2005 when Buettner published his story “The Secrets of a Long Life” claiming that there were five of these zones around the world, one of them being in Nicoya, Costa Rica.

Here are some of the ways that Nicoyan centenarians have been able to live longer, healthier, and happier lives.

Have a “Plan of Life”

You must have some sort of plan, either broad or detailed, of the major goals you want to achieve in life. Nicoyans utterly believe in feeling needed and contributing to the community. Having a plan will allow you to always have a goal to work towards.

Drink LOTS of Water

Drinking water has many benefits such as improving memory and mood, helping maintain your weight, and preventing and reducing the risk of diseases and infections. The water in Nicoya is known for having the highest calcium content in the country, which explains why Nicoyans have stronger bones, fewer hip fractures, and also low rates of heart disease.

Keep Connected with Family

Staying in touch with family is among the main characteristics of living in the Costa Rican Blue Zone. This is important since family members can provide a person with many forms of support; they can make you feel happy and can give you a sense of belonging. Nicoyans commonly make an effort to visit their families as frequently as possible. They believe that these interactions help them keep their brain and heart-healthy.

Work Hard

Hard work is a key way to learn how to be a disciplined, dedicated, and determined individual. Nicoyans place a large value on working hard. Elders usually continue working or remain active to keep their minds and bodies healthy.

Get Some Sun

Being exposed to sunlight is great as your body will produce Vitamin D. This vitamin is known for promoting overall health, protecting against inflammation, and lowering high blood pressure. Since the Nicoya Peninsula has a tropical climate, Nicoyans get a reasonable intake of the sun simply by having an active lifestyle.

Going to the beach is a great way to release some stress and clear your thoughts. Costa Rica, bordered by the Atlantic and the Pacific Ocean, is home to some of the most beautiful beaches around the world. Here are five of the best beaches to visit in Costa Rica.

Conchal is located in the province of Guanacaste, north of the town of Tamarindo. A unique characteristic of this beach is that the beach itself is made up of white shells instead of sand. Conchal is ideal for snorkeling as it contains a variety of coral as well as marine life. To get to this beach, you must take a 15-minute walk across Brasilito. However, two resorts have their private access to the beach, the Westin Conchal, and the W Costa Rica. Conchal beach is a perfect place to relax and swim as the weather in the area is sunny almost year-round.

Just north of Conchal Beach, you will find Flamingo Beach. This beach is one of the most family-friendly beaches in Costa Rica as it has soft waves and is located in a highly developed area. Flamingo is known for its lovely sunsets, which can be seen from the hotels and condos in the area. This beach is also famous for its fishing, sailing, and diving.

Manuel Antonio is considered by many to be the best beach in Costa Rica. Located in the province of Puntarenas, this national park has four amazing white sand beaches with clear turquoise water. Since the park is filled with wildlife, as you walk from the park’s entrance to the beach, you will have the chance to see a variety of animals including monkeys, sloths, and iguanas. Manuel Antonio beach is a great place to explore, as there are several hiking trails you can hike through.

Are you into surfing? If so, Tamarindo is the beach for you. This touristic beach in Guanacaste is known for its waves, wildlife, and nightlife. Tamarindo has tan sand and bright blue waters. Due to its proximity to Las Baulas National Park, if visiting between October and February, you might get the chance to see leatherback sea turtles swimming around. After a long day of surfing and relaxing on the beach, head over to the town of Tamarindo and check out all the dining and nightlife options they have to offer.

In the Nicoya Peninsula, south of Guanacaste, you will be able to find the beautiful beach of Santa Teresa. Although slightly difficult to get to, Santa Teresa is the perfect place for surfers and yoga enthusiasts. If you are looking for a secluded white sand blue water beach, this is a great place for you.
