The
house was built as close to the ocean as the
law and nature would allow, it is private with
no immediate neighbors, but not isolated, on
a beach with pristine, turquoise warm waters
for swimming.

backside of the house is surrounded by rainforest.
There are currently two sloths living in the
yard. A troop of howler monkeys pass through
the rainforest area behind the house regularly
and can often be seen in the backyard trees.
The house itself was conceived in a style which
would allow it to become an integrated part
of its setting. It is built in the Caribbean
style; an organic style using only locally grown
tropical cured hardwoods. It has two stories
with large covered decks on both floors. This
allows the house to remain fully open to nature
always, but it can be closed up quickly and
efficiently should one choose to do so.
It
is simple and rustic in its construction and
furnishings. The house may not be suitable for
those who require lavish amenities. There is
no TV, no CD player, no air-conditioning system
(not necessary-due to natural ventilation and
ceiling fans). It is a place to relax and enjoy
nature without the noise of daily life.
One
awakens to the sounds of howler monkeys, the
exotic songs of rainforest birds and the rhythm
of the rolling waves of the sea.. In the morning
one can often see monkeys and a two-toed sloth
from the terraces.
One
can walk for miles along deserted white sand
beaches, on one of the longest, most beautiful
and pristine stretches of beach in Costa Rica.
Within
a short drive from the house you can see leatherback
turtles nesting on neighboring the beaches in
Manzanillo, take advantage of magnificent snorkeling
in Punta Mona or take a short boat trip to watch
dolphins play just off shore. The scenery is
truly spectacular.
A
short walk from the house takes you to several
good restaurants and a small grocery store.
The trendy tourist town of Puerto Viejo with
its gourmet restaurants, boutiques, and discos
is just 15 minutes up the main road by car or
taxi.
